Israeli industrial designer Ron Arad was born in Tel Aviv in 1951. After graduating from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem in 1973 and the Architectural Association in London in 1979, he designed his famous Rover Chair in 1981. The Chair catapulted him to international success, with designer John Galliano allegedly buying six. Arad worked for the Royal College of Art for eight years between until 2009. There, he designed the Bookworm bookshelf. In the late 1980’s Arad further delved into the field of furniture design, when he created the Little Albert Chair. This colourful piece, fashioned in hopsack, combines minimalist beauty and elegant comfort. He continues to work from his studio in London.
